FAQs
What is Daoing? What can I do with Daoing?
Daoing is a Web3-native community chatting app(similar to Discord), but with more blockchain-powered features, such as wallet-to-wallet encrypted chat, token gated groups, seamless DApp integrations, community governance etc., bringing an unprecedented Web3 experience on mobile devices to users.
Who is Daoing for?
Daoing is suitable for any individual and community who want to fully experience Web3 technology on mobile devices. You can use Daoing for Web3 community exploration, crypto asset management, Dapp interactions, NFT transactions, crowdfunding, token club search, etc.
Why is Daoing's social networking based on communities?
It is human nature to gain a sense of belonging and identity in a community. We believe that the current social networks have too much noise, and what users really need is to join insightful communities. Daoing's fan economy system based on Web3 technology will attract high-quality communities to settle in. Users can search for interested communities based on keywords after entering the Daoing homepage. Therefore, even if new users have no other friends when they enter Daoing, they can immediately explore various communities and community-created content.
How can Daoing help with community governance?
We believe that any community has the potential to become a DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization), so we named it Daoing, which means we are helping the community transform into a DAO, and Daoing provides all the tools needed for DAO governance. The main difference between DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) and traditional communities lies in the two keywords of "decentralization" and "autonomous". "Decentralization" means that the rights of DAO are not controlled by a small number of people, but that all members of DAO obtain the right to speak (the power to initiate proposals and votes) in the form of tokens, and the final decision is made by smart contracts ( A series of public codes built on the blockchain) to execute without any permission, and the decision-making process is completely open and transparent; "autonomous" means that DAO is generally managed by community members themselves, and non-community members cannot influence DAO's decision-making.
In addition, Daoing's flexible permission system allows each community to tailor the required chat channels for different members to enter. For example, some channels are completely open, invitation-only, or have some kind of cryptocurrency (including NFT) as the entry threshold.
What is a DAO?
DAO (Decentralized Autonomous Organization) is an online community that pursues common goals and makes decisions by member voting. Voting rights normally come with holding certain cryptocurrencies/NFTs but can also be non-token weighted (i.e. one vote per person).
Why would a (sustainable) community eventually form a DAO?
A potentially sad fact is that if you happen to join a community where you don't have any right to speak, there is a high chance that the community will act against your interest at some point. Only when everyone in the community has the right to speak (DAO is formed), everyone will make decisions for common interests and goals. Only in this way can the community's decisions be avoided from conflicting with the interests of individual members, which will benefit the long term development of the community.
What devices can I use?
For the moment, we support most devices that run iOS and Android like smartphones and tablets. We will also soon support PCs by developing a website app.
Do I need a wallet like MetaMask to use Daoing?
No. Daoing automatically creates wallets for new users so they can focus on what interests them without the need to worry about seed phrases/private keys etc. However, if you wish, you can also connect third-party wallets like MetaMask from within the Daoing App.
Is it safe to use the Daoing in-app wallet?
Daoing's in-app wallet service is provided by Particle Networks. Particle Networks leverages secure multiparty computation (MPC) for the protection and management of cryptographic keys and secrets, providing industry-grade MPC-based solutions for key management and protection. As a result, Particle Network provides a secure, easy-to-use, and trusted key management system which is chain agnostic, robust and non-custodial. For more information please read their docs here.
Is it free to use Daoing?
Yes. Our users can experience all the standard functionalities in Daoing for free. However, to support our continuous growth we do offer paid Premium Memberships for users who prefer a more customised experience.
What are Gas Fees?
Gas fees are the token payments made to complete a transaction on a blockchain and are paid in the native token of a blockchain, e.g. Ether for Ethereum, BNB for BSC, etc. These fees are used to compensate blockchain miners for verifying blockchain transactions.
Why I can't transfer NFTs or tokens sometimes?
If you wallet is low on Gas Fee tokens (especially for newly created accounts/wallets), you may find that you are unable to transfer NFT or cryptocurrencies. In this case, you just need to top up your wallet with some Gas Fee tokens, either by a transfer from another wallet, or using our in-app purchase method.
What blockchain networks do you support?
Currently, we support almost all mainstream EVM blockchains, and the specific list can be found here.
Who are the people behind Daoing?
Daoing is developed by a group of DAO advocators in association with Chainge Games. We designed the product based on the simple idea:
To create value for Web3 users by making all Web3 interactions available from one mobile app.
Our team is open to join for anyone who believes in the spirit and the future of DAOs.
Where is Daoing based?
While most of the founding members are based in Ireland, we also have team members located across different countries (as we call it "a decentralized team").
